Gluten is a general name for the proteins found in wheat (wheatberries, durum, emmer, semolina, spelt, farina, farro, graham, KAMUT® khorasan wheat and einkorn), rye, barley and triticale.

Any wheat flour, wheat, barley or rye in the products listed above have been substituted with potato flour, quinoa, rice, millet, corn, arrowroot, soy, tapioca, flax, or buckwheat.

“Sugar” is also called sucrose, this is the most common sweetener used in sweet desserts and baked goods.

Any fructose, galactose, glucose, lactose or maltose in the products listed above have been substituted with sucralose, saccharin, neotame, aspartame, advantame, ace-k: chemically derived naturally derived: monk fruit, stevia, tagatose or allulose.

Dairy is considered to be milk, yogurt, cheese, lactose-free milk and fortified soy milk and yogurt.

The ketogenic diet is a very low carb, high fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low carb(sugar) diets. The keto diet reduces the number of carbs(sugar) you eat and teaches your body to burn fat for fuel instead.

Keto is low sugar and high fat – meats, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds, butter and cream, cheese, and oils (olive and canola). Monk fruit, raw sugar, stevia, yacon syrup, and sucralose are good sweeteners to use.

A modern paleo diet includes fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds. A paleo-friendly diet avoids processed foods, sugar, grains, most dairy, legumes, fats and artificial sweeteners. Paleo is considered a “low sugar” diet, with the following items typically allowed – extra vigin olive oil, avocado oil, nuts and seeds, fruits, dark chocolate, and wine.

A vegan-friendly diet contains food with no ingredients made of or derived from animals, including milk, butter, cheese, whey, or eggs. These ingredients have been substituted with a similar non-animal-based version, such as almond milk or cashew cheese.

Shopping tip: If it contains pectin, it is most likely vegan. If it contains gelatin, it is not. Most vegan gummies are low or no sugar!

Organic is ingredients certified to have grown on soil that had no prohibited substances applied for three years prior to harvest.

There is no high-fructose corn syrup in an organic diet, any product with that ingredient has been substituted with organic cane sugar, raw sugar, tapioca syrup, organic unbleached wheat flour, vegan butter, and/or organic vanilla.
