We’re launching our first out of home marketing campaign this winter and the ads are starting to roll out as we type this. By no means are we the first cannabis company to try billboards, but we might be the first to try bathroom ads.
The OOH campaign is designed to educate potential customers in the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota on the legality regarding cannabis in Michigan as well as the proximity of our stores. With Michigan being a newly legal state, retail locations are just starting to pop-up and educating people that it’s available now is our main goal. From there, the next goal of this campaign is to educate people how close legal weed is to them. When most people think of Michigan, they think Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids. And often times, the Upper Peninsula is entirely left out of the conversation. Many people don’t realize just how close legal THC products are to them.
Our Marquette location is located within a day’s driving distance from many urban areas including:
- Green Bay, WI – 3 hours
- Duluth, MN – 4.5 hours
- Milwaukee, WI – 5 hours
- Eau Claire, WI – 5.5 hours
- Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN – 6.5 hours
- Chicago, IL – 6.5 hours
- Des Moines, IA – 10 hours
- Sioux Falls, SD – 10.5 hours
- Omaha, NE – 11.5 hours
And finally, the campaign also aims to promote the Upper Peninsula as a whole. It’s a beautiful place that rivals any other in the country in terms of amenities. We’ve got the biking and hiking trails, we’ve got the mountains with hundreds of inches of fresh snow every year and we even have the surfing. The campaign is a collaboration between TFS and two advertising providers: Jones Outdoor and Social Indoor. Jones Outdoor is a leading billboard company in NE Wisconsin and Social Indoor is one of the largest provider of indoor advertising across the U.S. that is based in Minneapolis.
