Meet Courage Incorporated
Courage Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on helping physically disabled individuals and veterans, as well as those living with chronic/terminal illness, participate in free all-inclusive wilderness excursions. They’ve been serving people across the Upper Peninsula, and beyond, since 2016.
Offering completely free outdoor adventures, this organization provides opportunities for individuals to experience activities such as camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking and more. By removing financial barriers, they enable participants to discover new skills and build self-confidence through a sense of accomplishment.
Understanding that it can be challenging for people with physical disabilities to participate in outdoor recreational activities, the organization aims to provide participants with a judgement free experience where they can connect with the woods and the water. They offer low-stress excursions that are designed around the clients’ capabilities and their desired level of activity.
I chose them because I have so much respect for our veterans and I'm glad that Courage Incorporated does everything they can to help out disabled veterans."
- Jason Brandt, Heart on Fire Giveaway Winner
Courage Incorporated’s summer events are rooted in rustic camping and participants create their own adventure based on what they want to do. Their goal is to get people outdoors where they can enjoy the peace that only nature can provide.
All equipment is provided and set up for the participants before they arrive and the organization covers all costs. People can show up without the expectation of having to spend money on outdoor gear or without having to carry in and set up all of their own equipment. All meals, snacks, and drinks are also provided.

Courage Incorporated provides adventures for:
- People with physical disabilities
- Disabled veterans
- People with a chronic/terminal illness
The generosity and support from The Fire Station will help us tremendously. While it should be free to enjoy the woods and the water, we all know that it is essential to have the right gear. It's also no secret that durable and reliable outdoor gear is not cheap. We focus on buying quality gear so that we can provide a safe and memorable experience for people living with physical disabilities and chronic/terminal illness."
