MARQUETTE COUNTY
Vape Recycling Program
Disposable vapes contain hazardous materials, including lithium-ion batteries. When thrown in the trash, these devices pose a significant fire risk in waste trucks and landfills, and they can leak harmful chemicals into our local waterways. Through a partnership between The Fire Station and Citizens for a Safe & Clean Lake Superior (CSCLS), we are providing a free, compliant, and responsible way to dispose of your used devices.
Drop Off Locations
Please refrain from bringing used and empty vapes to The Fire Station stores.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Protecting Lake Superior Starts with Small Actions
Since December 2024, CSCLS has diverted over 500 lbs of nicotine vapes from local landfills. With the support of The Fire Station, this program now extends to cannabis devices. Every unit collected is sent to a specialized nonprofit recycling center in Michigan to ensure hazardous materials are handled safely and effectively.
